[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (1/14/18)[:]

[:en]A man told Jesus:  I will follow you, Lord, but firs t let me go back and say good-by to my family” .  Jesus replied:  “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:61-62).  Does Jesus mean that we have to forgo everything and cut off every relationship we considered precious?  Definitely not.   What Jesus means is that He wants us to follow Him on His terms – wholeheartedly – and that is not to place anything or anyone above Him.

The true meaning of “good-bye” in Chinese language can be translated in two Chinese character.  And that is “see you again” .  So, saying goodbye is not cutting off or forgetting all our past relationships.  We can see people again from the right perspective.[:]
