[:en]Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had won over the temptation to retaliate his enemies by following God’s command to love his enemies. He preached to the Dexter Avenue Baptist congregation in Montgomery, Alabama: “How do you go about loving yours enemies? Begin with yourself. When the opportunity presents itself for you to defeat your enemy, that is the time which you must not do it” He quote the words of Jesus: “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you…; that you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven” (Mat. 5:44-45)
We are considered enemies of God before. But through God’s mercy and forgiveness, we have been reconciled to Him. We have to take the message of reconciliation to the world. There should be no divisiveness among church members. We are to imitate the selfless servant-heart of Jesus and experience the great fellowship of love.[:]
