[:en]Thoughts from Genesis 34[:]

[:en]Dinah, daughter of Jacob and Leah had been defiled by Shechem.  So Shechem and his father Hamor, came to Jacob’s house and asked Dinah to be become his wife.  When the brothers of Dinah heard what had happened, they were filled with grief and fury because Shechem had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Dinah. Shechem told Jacob he was willing to pay whatever price they asked.  Jacob’s son made a deceitful demand – that  all their males must be circumcized.  So Shechem and Hamor spoke to their fellow townsmens and they agreed to be circumcised.  Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, Simeon and Levi took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.  They seized their flocks and herds and carried off all their wealth and all their women and children, taking as plunder everything in the houses.  Then they took Dinah from Shechem’s house and left.

Lessons to learn:

1.  Do not do disgraceful acts; 2.  Do not trust people you do not know; 3.  Do not lie; 4.  Do not do deceitful acts.
