[:en]Temptations of Jesus: (vs. 1-12)
Satan: “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread” (v. 3) Jesus : “It is written: Man does not live on bread alone” (v. 4)
Satan: “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship men, it will all be yours” (v. 7) Jesus: “It is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only” (v. 8)
Satan: If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here. For it is written: He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone” (vs.9-11) Jesus: “It says: “Do not put the Lord your God to the test” (v. 12)
Whenever you are being tempted, be ready to use God’s word as your weapon to be victorious. So, read the scripture everyday and memorize it by heart.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth:
Jesus said: No prophet is accepted in his hometown (v. 24). Elijzah was a prophet when where was severe famine for 3-1/2 years during his time. Yet Elijah was not sent to the widows in Israel but to a widow in Zerephath in the region of Sidon. And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha, the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed – only Naaman the Syrian” (vs. 24-27)
Do not be surprised if your labor in the Lord is not being appreciated nor recognized by your own people.
People healed by Jesus:
- The man with an evil spirit – “Be quiet, come out of him” (v. 35)
- Simon’s mother-in-law with a high fever – He rebuked the fever and it left her (v. 39)
- People with various kinds of sickness – He laid his hand in each one (v. 40)
- Demons – He rebuked the demons (v. 41)
