- By the way side – it was trampled down and the birds devoured it
- Upon a rock – it withered away for lack of moisture
- Among thorns – it spray up and was choked by the thorns
- On the Good ground – it grew up and bare fruit a hundred fold
Meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God
- Path people – refused to believe in God’s message
- Rock people – they believed in God’s message but never put it into practice
- Thorn people – overcome by worries and lure of materaliism
- God soil people – keep His word and follow Jesus at all cost
*What kind of people do you belong?
A Lamp on a Stand (vs. 16-18)
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts in under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light”
*Let the light of truth shine among others. Seek opportunities to help unbelievers who need help.
True Family (vs. 19-21)
“My mother and my brothers are all those who hear the message of God and obey it”
*Christ offers us an intimate family relationship with him if we hear and obey His word.
Jesus Calms the Storm (vs. 22-25)
While on a boat, Jesus fell asleep. A fierce storm developed and the disciples woke him up. Jesus rebuked the wind and the waves. The storm stopped and all was calm!
*Are you experiencing storm in your life? Is it cloudy, lightning or raging? Would you want Jesus to clear it up? Jesus is sovereign. He controls the history of the world as well as your personal destiny. Just as Jesus calmed the waves, He can calm whatever storms you may face. The only requirement is FAITH IN HIM.[:]
