[:en]Testimony of Jesus:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness bu will have the light of life” (v. 12)
“You are from below. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins (vs. 23-24)
The Jewish leaders brought a woman caught in adultery and said to Jesus. “What would He do to this woman who was caught in the act of adultery? (v. 4) They were using this woman to trap and trick Jesus. If Jesus said the woman should not be stoned, they would accused Him of violating Moses’ law. If He told them to execute her, they would report Him to the Romans, who did not permit the Jews to carry out their own executions (John 18:31). Jesus responded by writing on the ground with His finger: “If anyone of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her” (v. 7) Everyone from the oldest to the youngest went away. Only Jesus was left with the woman. Jesus told her to go and leave her life of sin.
Jesus emphasized the importance of compassion and forgiveness without passing outright judgment. If someone sins, let us show compassion and forgiveness and let God be the judge. If you sin, confess and repent. Jesus is ready to forgive any sins in your life. Change your heart and stop wrongdoing.
When Jesus said: “I am the light of the world; Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (vs. 4-5), He was speaking in the Temple where offerings were being placed/ (v. 20) There were candles burned to symbolize the pillar of fires that led the people of Israel through the wilderness. (Exo. 33:21-22). The pillar of fire represented God’s presence, He is the light that brings us His presence, protection and guidance.
A soldier must follow his captain and a slave must follow his master. Christ is our commander and master. As we should follow the laws of our country, we should also follow the laws of God’s kingdom.
Jesus said: “Anyone who does not believe in me will die in his sins (v. 24). Jesus is the truth that will set us free (v. 32). He can free us from the slavery of sins (vs. 34-36)
Jesus made a distinction between hereditary children and true children. The religious leaders were child of Abraham but their action reveal that they were true children of Satan under Satan’s guidance. True children of Abraham are faithful followers of Christ, who imitate and obey the true Father.
Devil is a father of liar who hated truth. He lures people to sin and uses people to obstruct God’s work. (Gen. 4:8; Rom. 5:12 ; 1 John 3:12)
Jesus was God in the flesh. He is sinless and a perfect example for us to follow. he said: If anyone keeps my word, he will never see death”. (v. 51) He was referring to spiritual death not physical death.
Jesus proclaimed His divinity when He said: “Before Abraham was born, I Am” (v. 58). The Jewish leaders tried to stone Him for blasphemy because He claimed equality with God. But Jesus is really God.
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God?[:]
