[:en]The Empty Tomb (vs. 1-9)
May Magdalene went to the tomb early in the morning and saw the stone of the tomb removed. She ran to tell Simon Peter and John that Jesus was no longer there. The disciples also ran to the tomb. When they went inside, they saw and believed. (v. 8)
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene (vs. 10-18)
The disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. Then Jesus appeared and called by her name saying: Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God” (v. 17) Mary Magdalene went to the disciples and said: “I have seen the Lord” (v. 18)
Jesus Appears to His Disciples (vs. 19-23)
While the disciples gathered together in a room, Jesus appeared and said: “Peace be with you”. then He breathe on them the Holy Spirit so that they could preach the gospel and announce the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus Appears to Thomas (vs. 24-31)
Thomas was not with the disciles when Jesus came. So when the other discples told him that they have seen Jesus, he did not believe. He said: Unless I see the nail mark in His hands and put my finger where the nails where, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it” (v. 25)
A week later, Jesus appeared to them again and said to Thomas: “Put your finger here, see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side, Stop Thomas immediately replied: “My Lord and my God” (v. 28)
Things to Ponder:
- Mary Magdalene went to the tomb to look for Jesus. Have you looked for Jesus in your daily life?
- May had a personal encounter with the Lord. Have you?
- Mary went to the disciples and told them the good news of Christ’s resurrection. Do you believe in the resurrection of Jesus?
- Jesus appeared to the disciples and gave them “Peace”. Do you have peace in your heart?
- Jesus breathe on the disciples the Holy Spirit giving them the Spirit-powered and Spirit-guided mission to preach the Good News and the forgiveness of sins. Have you proclaimed the Good News of Salvation to all mankind?
- Thomas was skeptical about Jesus’ resurrection. Have you doubted God’s power?
