[:en]Paul spoke Aramaic to the Jews to show that he was a devout Jew and had respect for the Jewish laws and customs. He introduced himself as a Jews, born in Tarsus of Cilisia, trained by Gamaliel, an honored rabbi of the first century and an expert on religious law. (v s. 1-3) He told them how zealous he was for God with sincere motive by approving the killing Stephen before. Then he gave his testimony and shared how he came to faith in Christ.
Paul, the Roman Citizen (vs. 22-29)
The crowd listened to Paul intently until he mentioned about the word “Gentiles”. The commander ordered Paul to be taken into the barracks and have him flogged. When the stretched him out to flog him, he divulged his citizenship. Upon knowing that he was a Roman citizen, the commander was alarmed because he had put Paul, a Roman citizen chains without proving him guilty.
Before the Sanhedrin (v. 30)
In order to find out why Paul was being accused by the Jews, the commander ordered the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin to assemble and brought Paul before them.[:]
