[:en]The Trial Before Felix (vs. 1-27)
Ananias went to Caesarea with some elders and a lawyer named Tertullus to bring charges against Paul before Felix. They accused him of the following crime: (1) – a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews in the province of Asia, (2) – he was a ringleader of Nazarene sect which was against the Roman law (3) – he had tried to desecrate the temple. Paul was given the opportunity to defend himself. He refuted their accusations point by point. The Jews in the province of Asia were not present to confirm their accusations. Paul was able to speak about faith in Christ to Felix and his wife Drusilla. When Paul spoke on righteousness, self-control and judgment, Felix grew fearful and told him to stop because he had taken another man’s wife. Felix kept Paul in prison hoping that Paul would bribe him and that the Jews would be happy. He was succeeded by Porcuis Festus.
