[:en]Paul Sails for Rome (vs. 1-12)

Luke accompanied Paul on this journey.  Julius, a roman army officer was assigned to guard Paul.   He developed a respect for Paul and gave him a certain amount of freedom allowing him to see his friends to provided for his needs.

They sailed in October, AD 59, which was not the best time to sail.  But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship and proceeded with the voyage.

The Storm (vs. 13-26)

As they sailed, the ship was caught by a storm.  They did all means to save the ship but the men had a long time without food.  Paul urged them to eat and take courage.  He told them that not one of them will be lost because he would stand trial before Caesar.

The Shipwreck (vs. 27-44)

There were 276 on board and all were encouraged and ate some food.  The ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. d The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent them from escaping but Julius spared Paul’s life and kept them from carrying out their plan.  everyone reached land in safety.

In times of adversity, trust in the Lord and be an encourager to others.
