[:en]Peter Heals the Crippled Beggar (vs. 1-10)
Peter and John went to the temple in the afternoon to pray. At the entrance to the temple was the Beautiful Gate where a beggar was there begging. The lame man asked money from Peter but Peter gave him something much better – the ability to walk. He healed him by the authority of Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit. The lame man began to jump and walk praising God. People were filled with winder and amazement when they saw what had happened.
Peter Speaks to the Onlookers (vs. 11-26)
Peter was in Solomon’s Colonnade when he share Jesus Christ. His message consists of who Jesus was, his being rejected, deceived, killed and resurrected. He asked them to repent and turn from their wicked ways. He revealed that Jesus will one day come to restore everything as what he had promised through His holy prophets. Those who did not listen to Him will be completely cut off from among His people. (V. 23)
Things to Ponder:
- The lame beggar asked for money. But Peter did something better for the lame man. You may be asking something from God. But God always has something better for you.
- When the lame man was healed, he began walking, jumping and praising God. Do you praise and give thanks to God for His love, His care and His provision?
- Peter shared the gospel to the to the crowd in Acts chapter 2. He spoke to the onlookers in chapter 3. Do you share the gospel in every opportunity you can?
- Peter said: “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk”. Peter did not claim credit for healing the lame man. Instead, he proclaimed the name of Jesus Christ. Do not claim credit for yourself. Instead, give all the glory to God.
- Peter preached repentance as the essential message of salvation. To be saved, he must acknowledge his sin, repent and ask forgiveness from God.
- Jesus will come again to judge the world and bring final restoration of all things. Let us be prepared to meet Him anytime.
