[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (8/24/18)[:]

[:en]There was a 1700 hill in Mexico called the Cerro del Borrego or “Hill of the Sheep”  When the French army invaded Mexico, the Mexican army established its position at the top of the hill.  However, the Mexican general failed to guard access to the top.  So while the Mexican troops were sleeping, the French attacked and killed 2000 of them.

There was another hill, the Mount of Lives where a group of disciples fell asleep.  Jesus rebuked them saying, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Mark 14:35)

Many times, we are also careless in our Christian walk.  We neglect prayer and Bible study making us easy targets for Satan to strike. (1 Pet. 5:8)  Let us be vigilant.  Let us watch and pray to overcome temptation and live a victorious life.[:]
