[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (8/29/18)[:]

[:en]When John the Baptist came to announce the good news of the coming Messiah, he was calling in the desert “Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him” (John 3:4).  He was preaching a baptism of repentance by declaring “Every valley shall be filed in, every mountain and hill made low.  The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth, And all mankind will see God’s salvation” (John 3:5)

He knew that people of Jerusalem who wanted to welcome their long-awaited Messiah should have a change of heart by letting their pride come down.

Similarly, those who would like to welcome Jesus into their lives should repent of their sins and seek forgiveness from God.[:]
