[:en]This is the last chapter of Philippians. Paul’s theme here is JOY. We can have joy even in hardship because joy does not come from outward circumstance but from inward strength.
Paul gives the following exortations:
- “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (v. 4)
- “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understaind, will guard your hearts and your ominds in Christ Jesus” (v. 7)
- “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything es excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things” (v, 8)
- “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you”{ (v. 9)
- “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want” (vs. 11-12)
- “I can do everything through him who gives me strength” (v. 13)
THANKS FOR THEIR GIFTS (vs. 19-20)
Paul gave thanks to the Philippian beleivers who had sent him support and aid when he was in need. They sent gifts through Epaphroditus which are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.
FINAL GREETINGS (VS. 21-23)
Paul greet all the saints in Christ Jesus and sent greetings to those who belong to Caesar’s household.
SUMMARY OF THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS
Chapter 1 – Joy in Suffering – “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain” (v. 21)
Chapter 2 – Joy in Serving – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves” (v. 3)
Chapter 3 – Joy in Believing – “But our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body” (vs. 20-21)
Chapter 4 – Joy in Giving – “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (v. 19)[:]
