[:en]TO THE SLAVES (vs. 1-2)
Consider your master worthy of full respect. Serve the believer’s masters even better because they are brothers.
LOVE OF MONEY (vs. 3-10)
Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it. Be contented if you have food and clothing. People who want to get rich fall into temptations and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
PAUL’S CHARGE TO TIMOTHY (vs. 11-16 ; 20-21)

- Fight the good fight of the faith
- Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called
- Keep my command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ
- Guard what has been entrusted to your care
- Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.
TO THE RICH: (vs. 17-19)
- Do not be arrogant nor to put your hope in wealth which is so uncertain but to put your hope in God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment
- Do good and be rich in good deeds
- Be generous and willing to share
