[:en]Thoughts from Hebrews 2[:]

[:en]WARNING TO PAY ATTENTION (vs. 1-18)

“The message God delivered through angels” refers to the teaching that angels as messengers for God had brought the law to Moses.  Christ is greater than angels.  So His message is more important than theirs.  No one can escape punishment if he ignores salvation.

JESUS MADE LIKE HIS BROTHERS (vs. 5-17)

God put Jesus in charge of everything.  He is Lord of all and one day, He will rule in earth as He does in heaven now.  Jesus came to this world not to gain status or political power but to suffer and die so that we can have eternal life.

Since Christ has cleansed and sanctified us and set us apart for God’s service, we have been adopted as His children.  Jesus calls us His brothers and sisters.

Jesus became human so that He could die and rise again and destroy devil’s power over death.  Those belong to Christ need not fear death because death is the only doorway to eternal life.

In the Old Testament, the high priest was the mediator between God and His people.  He offered animal sacrifices according to the law to intercede with God for forgiveness of people’s sins.  Jesus Christ is now our High Priest.  He came as human to pay the penalty of sins by  His own sacrificial death.  He now became the mediator to restore our broken relationship with God.

Jesus faced temptations and suffered pain.  Because Christ suffered when He was tested, He is able to help those who are being tempted” (v. 18)

We can trust Christ to help us survive sufferings and overcome temptations.  When trials come, ask strength from Jesus.  He is able to help you.
