[:en]A MULTIPLIED LOVE

A woman from Karen’s Church was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease).  This cruel disease affects nerves and muscles, eventually leading to paralysis.  The family’s insurance could not cover home care, and the stricken woman’s husband could not bear the thought of putting her in a nursing home.

As a nurse, Karen went to the woman’s home to care for her.  But she realized that she would neglect her own family while meeting the needs of her friend.  So she started to teach and train others to help her friend.  Over the next seven year, Karen had trained 31 additional volunteers to take care of that family with love, prayer, and practical assistance.

May we emulate Karen’s example in showing love and compassion to people in need.  May we remember God’s commandment of “Love your neighbor as yourself”.  John said:  “Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” (1 John 4:21).  Let us be a shining example of God’s love and care. – (Tim Gustafson)[:]
