[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 1[:]

[:en]The theme of this psalm is happiness of the godly and the judgment of the ungodly.

THE PERSON GOD BLESSES (vs. 1-3)

  1.  God blesses a person who is sparated from this world (v. 1)- He does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
  2. God blesses a person who is saturated with the WORD (v. 2)- He delights in the law of the Lord and meditates day and night.
  3. God blesses a person who is situated by the water – His spiritual root is planted deep down into Christ and draws upon the spiritual water of life.  The only way to be filled spiritually is to spend time daily in prayer and His Word.  The believer who has the Holy Spirit of God will be fruitful and sacrificial in the life of faith.

THE PERSON GOD JUDGES (vs. 4-6)

The wicked are compared to chaff – they have no roots.  They are blown with the wind and are useless and unfruitful.  They will not be able to withstand the judgment.  They will never be allowed to enter the heavenly congregation of the righteous.

In conclusion – the path of the rightious shall prosper but the way of the wicked will perish.

If you want to be blessed, choose the way of the righteous.  Submit to Christ and spend time with God’s word by reading and meditating upon it.  Then you will have root that draws upon the hidden resources of God with a blessed life that gives satisfaction here and hereafter.[:]
