[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 12[:]

[:en]When David wrote this Psalm, he was thinking that there were no more godly people left.  This was similar to what Elijah said to the Lord: ” I have been very zelous for the Lord God Almighty.  The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword.  I am the only one left, and now they are tyrying to kill me too”.  But God said:  “Do you know that I have reserved 7000 people in Israel — all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouth have not kissed him?” (1 Kings 19:14, 18)

David concluded that godliness was on the decline.  People spoke flattering boastful, deceptive and oppressive words that God displeased.  But God cares for tge weak and the needy.  He promises to protect the downtrodden and comfort the oppressed.  We should also care for the needs of the poor.

God’s word is proven to be flawless and refined as silver.  It is lasting and valuable.  We can depend on it to keep us safe.  We must listen to what it says.[:]
