[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 2[:]

[:en]1. THE VOICE OF THE NATIONS (vs. 1-3)

Voices of rebellion against God was being heard.  The nations resist Christ because they want freedom from God’s rule.  History shows that the Gentile nations had rejected God’s people, God’s Word and God’s Son.  The rebellion grew more fierce wtih the establishing of the church but in the last days, it will have its complete fulfillment as the “Kings of the earth unite to fight against God”.

2.  THE VOICE OF THE FATHER (vs. 4-6)

God responds to the threat of men by laughing with a holy voice of derision.  Today, God speaks in grace from the cross. But when God deals in judgment of the nations of the world, He will have the “last laugh”.

The voice of the Father is also the voice of displeasure, meaning “fiery anger”.  This is the tribulation.  When there is an awful judgment upon the land,  the sea, heaven, the world, the people and the nation.  The nation of Israel will be “purged” to prepare a believing remnant for the return of Christ to establish His kingdom from Jerusalem.

Finally, the voice of the Father is a voice of declaration that Christ, His anointed Son is seated at His right hand.  Christ is a priest like Melchizedeh. (Heb. 6:20, 7:17) who intercedes for us.  One day He will return  in glory and sit upon the throne to judge and rule the nations.

3.  THE VOICE OF THE SON (vs. 7-9)

Christ proclaims the decree of His father: “You are my Son, today I have become your Father.  Ask of me and I will make the nations  your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.  You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery” (vs.7-9)

Christ’s victory over sin through His death on the cross has been given an inheritance.  Satan also offered Christ kingdom apart from cross.  But Jesus never yielded to temptation.  Satan will also offer kingdoms to Anti-Christ and he would rule the nations for a brief period.  When Christ returns to the earth, all Christians will reign with Him in glory.

4.  THE VOICE OF THE SPIRIT (vs. 10-12)

The Spirit appeals to men to submit themselves to Jesus Christ in every area of the personality.

  1.  The mind – “Be wise and be warned” (v. 10)
  2. The heart – “Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling (v. 11)
  3. The will – “Kiss the Son:” – paying homage, sharing, loving and surrendering to Him

Psalm 2 closes with ‘BLESSED ARE ALL WHO TAKE REFUGE IN HIM” (V.  12)
