[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 7[:]

[:en]This Psalm was written by David of his experience with Cush.  Cush was one of Saul’s spies and he had brought about the dead of some innocent men because of David.  David was falsely accused of trying to kill Saul and seize the throne.  Instead of revenge, David cried out to God for justice.

The first thing David did was to examine his own heart and asked God to see if he had really done what he was being accused of.  He asked God to be the judge.  He said:  “If I have done evil to him, who is at peace with me or without a case have robbed my foe, then let my enemy pursue and overtake me.  Let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. (vs. 4-5)  In other words, David was saying that his life is ruled by integrity.  He asked God to bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.

God is a righteous judge.  Those who are pregnant with evil and bring trouble conceive sin and give birth to a monster that will turn on him and destroy him.  So be warned not to give birth to sin.  Sin will destroy your happiness and your relationship with others.

{The proper response to slander is prayer and not revenge because God says:  “It is mine to avenge.  I will repay”  (Rom. 12:19, Heb. 10:30).  Instead of striking back, ask God to bring justice for you.}[:]
