[:en]A “star” fell from the sky to earth was holding the key to the shaft of the Abyss. The Abyss represents the place of the demons of Satan. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locust came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.
Prophet Joel described a locust plague as a forthcoming of the “day of the Lord” – God’s coming judgment (Joel 2:1-10). In the Old Testament, locusts were symbols of destruction because they destroyed vegetation. Here it symbolized an invasion of demons called to harm and torture for 5 months people who did not have the seal of God on their forehead. During those days, men will seek death and long to die but death will elude them.
The locust-demons had a king over them whose name in Hebrew is “Abaddon” and in Greek “Apollyon” meaning “Destroyer”. A voice from the horns of the golden altar that is before God told the 6th angel to release the 4 angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates. Four angels kept there were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of the mounting troops was two hundred million. A third of mankind was killed by the 3 plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent. They did not stop worshiping demons, idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood. They kept on sinning with their murders, magic arts, sexual immorality and thefts.
This is a wake-up call to us. People usuarlly fall into immorality and evil without realizing it until they mired in their wicked ways. Temptations entertained today become sin tomorrow, a habit the next day and then death and separation from God forever (James 1:15). Ackwnoledge your need to confess your sins before God and let Him rescue you.[:]
