[:en]NOT THE ONE

David loved the Lord.  He wanted to build a temple for Him.  He had drawn up the plans, designed the furniture and collected the materials.  He had made all the arrangements but God said:  “You are not the one” (1 Chron. 17:4).  Instead of being resentful or getting discouraged,  David maintained a thankful spirit because he sought God’s glory, not his own.  He faithfully did all he could for God’s temple, laying a solid foundation for the one who would come after him to complete the work.  He rallied capable men to assist Solomon in building the temple. ( 1 Chron. 22).

In our Christian service, we may want to do things which we think we are best equiped.  But God may want us to accept the task He has chosen for us to do  to make it “more obviously grand”.  May we accept the tasks God has chosen for us to do and serve Him with a thankful heart. – (Poh Fang Chia)[:]
