[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 35[:]

[:en]When enemies are saying fasle things about you, what will be your response? Your natural reaciton is to fight back, defend your name and protect your reputation.  But David started with prayer.  He admitted his own helplessness and turned over the whole situation to the Lord.  He trusted God to work in his behalf, and God did work for him.

What David asked from God:

  1. To contend and fight against his enemies (v. 1)
  2. To come to his aid  (v. 2)
  3. To put to shame those who sought his life (v. 4)
  4. To puruse and drive the enemy (v. 5-6)
  5. To let them fall into their ruin (v. 8)
  6. To rescue his precious life from their ravages (v. 17(
  7. To rise up and defend him (v. 23)
  8. To vindicate him (v. 24)

David’s Wishes:

  1. The enemies be put to shame (v. 4)
  2. They be driven away by the angel of the Lord (v. 5)
  3. Their path be dark and slippery (v. 6)
  4. Ruin may overtake them (v. 8)
  5. They be clothed with shame and disgrace (v. 26)

What the enemies did to David:

  1.  They fought against David (v.  1)
  2. They pursed him (v. 3)
  3. They sought his life and plotted his ruin (v. 4)
  4. They hid their net and dug a pit for him without cause (v. 7)
  5. They bore rutheless witness about him (v. 11)
  6. They repay evil for good (v. 12)
  7. They gathered against him and slandered him without ceasing (v. 15)
  8. They mocked him (v. 16)
  9. The devised false accusations (v. 20)
  10. They have said: “Aha, Aha” and swalloed him up (v. 21, 25)

But at the end, David said:  “And my tongue shall speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long” (v. 28)

If you have been persectued, pray for justice to be done.  But when your prayer seemed “Unanswered” and your deliverance is delayed, be patient to wait for God’s time.  He will fight the battle for you and clear your name.[:]
