[:en]Waiting is a diffficult experience because we are impatient to wait. But David waited patiently for the Lord and asked the Lord to help him. Figuratively speaking, he was down in a horrible pit, sinking in the mire. But he waited on the Lord and God heard him. God reached down and pulled David out of the pit and put him on a rock. Then David put a new song in his mouth and sang hymn of praise to God.
Are you waiting on the Lord for something that you need Him to do for you? Remember, one of these days, your petition will be heard. Your sinking will be turned into standing. Your doubts and fear will be replaced by assurance and He will put you on the Rock. Just wait on the Lord. be patient and let Him work in His time. “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his TRUST. (vs. 4-6).
What benefits do we receive when we trust the Lord?
- We can see life through God’s eyes by not looking to the proud, nor turn aside to false gods.
- We can appreciate God works. God is doing wonderful works for us today.. “All things work together for good to those whoo love God, to those who are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28)
- We can contemplate on God’s thoughts. “And the things you planned for us, no one can recount to you… there would be too many to declare” (v. 5) God’s thoughts are revealed in God’s Word. Are you reading His Word? Are yu trusting in Him?
God does not desire sacrifice nor require offerings. He wants us to do His will. David desired to do God’s will because God’s laws were written in His heart. God’s will is the expression of God’s love. It comes from God’s heart. If we love God’s Word, we will be close to the heart of God. And we will obey His Word and delight in His Will.
David proclaimed God’s righteousness. He spoke of His faithfulness and salvation. He talked of His love and truth. Have you witnessed for Christ?
David was surrounded with unnumbered troubles. His sins had overtaken him. His heart failed within him. He called for God’s mercy, love and truth to protect him. We may not be battling against armies, but we are part of a spiritual warfare that demands diligence and devotion.
At the end, David took time to worship the Lord and find joy in Him. When we worship the Lord and magnify Him, it helps us to put things into perspective. You may be impatient but He is working everything together for your good. (Jer. 29:11)
Things to Ponder:
- Do you wait for the Lord?
- Have you trusted in Him?
- Are you reading His Word?
- Is it your desire to do His will?
- Are you worshipping Him?
