[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 55[:]

[:en]David felt like flying away just to get away everything.  He thought of escaping by having wings like dove to fly away and make far off into the wilderness (v. 6)

When life is such a burden, we will also have that feeling of getting  away.  That is normal and natural reaction.  But it is not a good solution.  If we keep running away, we will never grow up.  We need the wings like an eagle to face the storm, spread its wings and lift it up above the storm.   We need to face life honestly.  Instead of running away, run to the Lord and let Him lift you high above the storm.

David had a friend who had deeply hurt him.  He said:  “If an enemy was insulting me, I could endure it; If a foe was raising himself against me, I could hide from him.  But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship, as we walked with the throng at the house of God” (vs. 12-14) .  He described his friend as follows:  “My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant.  His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.  (vs. 20-21)

Instead of retaliating, David did two things:

  1. He called upon the Lord, cried out in distress and told Him his troubles (vs. 16-17)
  2. He entrusted everything to the Lord and let God do the judging (vs. 18-19)  “ But as for me, I trust in you (v. 23).

Things to Ponder:

*If you are experiencing a storm today, face it by spreading your wings of faith.  Let God lift you up above the storm with the wings like an eagle.

*Have you hurt a friend or been hurt by one?  Humble yourself and ask God to heal the wounds.  Make your best effort to mend the relationship.

*No matter how you have been treated, call on the Lord.  God will take care of your enemies.  Let Him lead you in forming new friendships.

*Leave your burdens to the Lord.  Cast your cares upon Him.  Turst Him and He will sustain you/

Claim these two verses:

  1.  “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.  He will never let the righteous fall” (v. 22)
  2. “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)
