[:en]Asaph was in anguish when he wrote this Psalm. He saw the enemies coming with the following scenes:
- Their inheritance are invaded (v. 1a)
- Holy temple being defiled and reduced to rubble (v. 1b)
- Dead bodies of saints and servants given to the birds of the air and beast of the earth )v. 2)
- the were object of reproach, of scorn and of derision to their neighbors ( v. 3)
He prayed to God to do the following:
- To pour out His wrath and avenge their blood (v. 6, 10)
- To help, deliver and forgive their sins (v. 9)
When we see triumph of evil in this world, the first thing we must do is to examine ourselves. Does this happen because God is purging us? Then pray: Help us, O God our Savior for the glory of your name, deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake” (v. 9)[:]
