[:en]Plead of Asaph:
- Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, Awake your might and save us! (v.s 1-2)
- Restore us, O God, make your favor shine upon us that we may be save (vs. 3, 7, 19)
- Return to us, O God Almighty. Look down from heaven and see! (v. 14)
- Revive us, and we will call on your name (v. 18)
- Restore us, O Lord God Almighty, make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved (v. 19)
Asaph asked God to hear them because they were in deep anguish.
He asked God to restore them three times because they had wandered away. They were going in the wrong direction. They had rebelled against God and began to worship the gods of other nations. They imitated other nations, visited their altars, and shared in their sacrifices. that is why God left His people. Ichaod – the glory has departed” (1 Sam. 4:21)
He asked God to return to them because God had departed from His people. Israel was a fruitful vineyard but the vine was cut down and the people rebuked.
He asked God to revive them so that they could call His name and give praises to Him.
We also need God to hear our prayer when we have afflictions. We need God to restore us when we rebelled against by disobeying His commands. We need God to return to us to feel His presence and guidance. We need God to revive us so that we can take deep root in Him and bear rich fruits for the glory of God and the enrichment of others.[:]
