[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 112[:]

[:en]The synonym of “FEAR” is “PHOBIA” .   There are different kinds of fear:

  1. Acrophobia – fear of heights;
  2. Claustrophobia – fear of closed-in places;
  3. Hydrophobia – fear of water;
  4. Hemophobia – fear of blood
  5. Aerophobia – fear of flying
  6. Astraphobia – fear of thunder or lightning
  7. Typanophobia – fear of injections
  8. Ophidiophobia – fear of snakes
  9. Cynophobia – fear of dogs
  10. Agoraphobia – fear of being alone
  11. Mysophobia – fear of germs and dirt

  16. Agoraphobia -fear of open space or crowds
  17. Autophobia –  fear of being alone

  19. Iatrophobia – fear of doctor
  20. Nyctophobia – fear of darkness

But there is only one fear that can drive out all other fears.  And that is “THE FEAR OF THE LORD”.  In Psalms 112, the fear of the Lord takes care of the following fears:

  1. Family fear – his children will be mighty in the land and the generation of the upright will be blessed (v. 2)
  2. Financial fear – wealth and riches are in his house and his righteousness endures forever (v. 3)
  3. Fear of the dark – Even in darkness, light dawn for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man (v. 4)
  4. Fear of change – the generous and the just will never be shaken (v. 6)
  5. Fear of bad news – righteous man will have no fear of bad news.

This Psalm tells us that we need only one fear – “the fear of the Lord”.  The fear of the Lord conquers all fears.  All we have to do is to trust Him with our future.  Isaiah proclamied:  “The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy; He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread” (Isa. 8:13)[:]
