[:en]The Psalmist described the idol of other nations as follows: “Their idols are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats” (vs. 3-7)
But the God whom we love and worship is the living God. He hears us. He sees us. He talks to us. He leads and guides us. And he is near us. That is why we have to trust and fear a God whom we can depend upon.
The psalmist addressed 3 groups of people. First, he was speaking to the nation: “O house of Israel, trust in the Lord – He is their help and shield. (v. 9). Second, he spoke to the priest: “O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord – he is their help and shield” (v. 10). And Lastly, he was talking to us: “You who fear Him, trust in the Lord – He is their help and shield” (v. 11).
God is our help, our shield, our protector, our security and our sufficiency. That is why we have to trust Him. We must show reverence, respect and appreciate the blessings that He has given us.[:]
