[:en]Thoughts from Psalms 133[:]

[:en]The theme of this Psalm is “UNITY”.  Brethren – brothers and sisters are expected to dwell together in harmony.  They live in a family with the same parents, eat the same kind of food at the table and share everything together until they move out after marriage.

God’s people are also expected to dwell together in unity not uniformity.  Uniformity can be manufactured by manipulating people and exerting pressure but true unity comes only from God by His Spirit.

A description of spiritual unity is as follows:  “It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on Aaron’s beard down upon the collar of his robes” (v. 2)  Aaron wore a breastplate over his chest that had 12 stones – representing 12 tribes of Israel.  When the oil came down, it bathed all the stones and they all became one in that anointing oil.  It is a picture of the Holy Spirit of God who baptizes us into the Body of Jesus Christ and gives us spiritual unity.  That unity came down from God.  The spiritual unity is fragrant like oil and fruitful like dew.  “It is like the dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion.  For there the Lord bestows his blessings (v. 3)

Let us strive to maintain the unity of the Spirit.  Let us be a peacemaker not a troublemaker.  Let us pray for the fragrant oil and fruitful dew of spiritual unity to live in our life and church today.[:]
