[:en]Know how to control what you eat. Do not crave for delicacies and resort to gluttony (v. 2). Show restraint to get rich, for riches will sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle (vs. 4-5). Do not get friendly with miserly people. They may offer you food and drinks but their hearts are not with you. Real and lasting fellowship come from love in the heart. (vs. 4-8)
Do no speak to a fool, for they will never appreciate your words of wisdom (v. 9). Do not move the ancient boundary stone and encroach on the fields of the fatherless for God will judge it. (v. 10). Do not withhold discipline from a child so that he may have wisdom and bring you joy (vs. 15-16). Do not envy sinners but fear the Lord and trust in Him (vs. 17-18). Do not join with the drunkards and the gluttons lest you become like them and become poor (vs. 19-21).
Listen to your father and do not despise your mother when she is old (v. 22). Do not be enticed by a prostitute. She is a bandit that brings you to ruin in deep pit. Do not even look at the wine for in the end, it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. And you will end up embarrassed, bruised and with sorrow (vs. 29-35)[:]
