[:en]Wisdom is supreme because it perfects our paths. Solomon gave us instructions on how to perfect our paths:
- Get Wisdom (vs. 1-13) – Listen and pay attention to father’s instruction and gain understanding. Do not forget God’s word and keep His command. Esteem wisdom and embrace her and you will be exalted and honored. Hold on to instruction and guard it well, for it is your life.
- Avoid temptation and sin (vs. 14-19) – Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of the evil men. Avoid it, turn from it and do not travel on it. For the ways of the wicked is like deep darkness that makes men stumble.
- Guard your life (vs. 20-17) :
Your Heart – Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Your heart determines the kind of life you will live. The heart is the master control of your life.
Your Mouth – Put away perversity from you mouth. Keep corrupt talk far from you lips. Do not speak scornfully and arrogantly. Instead, speak in love seasoned with salt. (Col. 4:6)
Your Eyes – Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you. Eve permitted her eyes to wander and it led her to sin (Gen. 3:6). Samson looked at the polluted honey in the carcass of the lion and this led him into defilement and disobedience (Judge 14:8). John warned us about the lust of the eye. (1 John 2:15-17)
Your Feet – Make level path for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left. Keep your feet far from evil. Solomon urged us to ponder our path.
When you seek wisdom, you will reap the benefits of protection (v.6), promotion (vs. 8), honor (v. 9) and stability (v. 12). Let your whole person be controlled by God’s Word to guide you walk in the path of righteousness.[:]
