[:en]Thoughts from Proverbs 7[:]

[:en]Description of an Adulteress:

  1. She dresses like a prostitute with crafty intend to alure men (v. 7)
  2. She is loud and defiant, lurking at every corner (vs. 11-12)
  3. She invites him to her place with colored linens, perfumed bed (vs. 16-18)
  4. She cunningly gives assurances (vs. 19-20)
  5. She uses persuasive words  and seduces him with smooth talk to lead him astry (v. 21)
  6. She strips him like an ox going to the slaughter, like deer stepping into a noose, like a bird darting into a snare till an arrow pierces his liver costing his life (v. 22)
  7. She slains the victims with a mighty throng (v. 26)
  8. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death (v. 27)

To combat temptation, keep God’s word and store up His commands.  Seek wisdom and guard His teachings as the apple of your eye.  Bind them on yur fingers and write them down on the tablet of your heart.  Do not be seduced by the temptress.  With wisdom as your sister and understanding as your kinsman, your heart will see through all her enticements and have no desire for the adulteress.

No amount of expensive tapestries can cover the danger of sin.  The most aromatic spices cannot turn the stench of sin into poignant perfume.  You are made in the image of God.  Do not let sin drive you down into the level of a beast.  Guard your mind to avoid being deceived by wrong desires.  Keep away from places and friends that influence you to sin.  Do not think only of the moment, but focus on the future.  Remember, today’s thrill may lead to tomorrow’s ruin.[:]
