[:en]Thoughts from Isaiah 10[:]

[:en]The leaders in Israel were greedy and unjust.  They issued oppressive decreees to deprive the poor of their rights and withold justice from the oppressed.  They robbed the widow and the fatherless.  But when the judgment of the Lord came, what good is all the wealth? (vs. 1-4)

God used Assyria as His tool to punish Israel, but she became proud and boast about what it did.  So God humbled its people and judged their evil deeds.  They vanished like fire when Babylon conquired Nineveh, their capital in 612 B.C. (VS. 5-19)

In the midst of God’s wrath, He still saved a remnant who will return to their land.  God promised Judah that Assyria would not capture Jerusalem.  In the end, Assyria would be brought low and cut down but God’s grace gave hope to His people. (vs. 20-31)
