[:en]A NEW NAME

In an article “Leading by Naming” Mark Labberton wrote about the power of a name.  A musical friend called him “musical” which he would never forget.  He felt being known, loved, noticed, validated and appreciated by that comment.

When Simon was brought to Jesus by Andrew, Jesus peered into his soul and appreciated something deeply true about Simon.  Jesus knew his impetuous nature and failure, but He saw the potential of Simon to become a leader in the church.  So, Jesus named him Cephas – Aramaic for Peter – the rock. (John 1:42)

God sees your weaknesses but He also knows who you are in Christ.  He calls you  justified and reconciled (Rom. 5:9-10), forgiven, holy and beloved (Col. 2:13; 3:12); chosen and faithful (Rev. 17:14).  Yes, God sees you and He will give you a New Name. – (Marvin Wiilliams)
