[:en]AN ENCOUNTER WITH STONES
While having a family visit in the modern city of Jerusalem, David walked the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Sorrow) and descended to the cool basement of the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. There he saw ancient pavement stones unearthed during recent construction – stones etched wth games played by Roman soldiers during their idle moments.
Those particular stones caused him to ponder his spiritual life at the time. He had become complacent and uncaring toward God and others. He was deeply moved by remembering that the place where he stood was where the Lord was beaten, mocked, insulted and abused.
“He was pierced for our tansgressions, He was crushed for our iniquties; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isa. 53:5)
Let us remember that Jesus’s loving grace is greater than all our sins. – (David Mccasland)
