[:en]A PROPHESY AGAINST CUSH

Cushs are the people of Ethiopia.  They sent ambassadors to Israel hoping to form a strong alliance against Assyria.  But the venture failed because it was contrary to God’s will.

The Assyrian invasion was God’s plan to accomplish His divine purpose.  He was disciplining His people by cutting off the shoort with pruning knives and take away the speading branches.  He would reap the harvest and leave the corpses to the scavengers (vs. 5-6).  Instead of gong to Jerusalem with a gift for the Lord, they were having negotiations that trusted in their armies and treaties.[:]
