[:en]THE LORD’S DEVASTATION OF THE EARTH
Since the Lord is the creator and King over the earth, He has the right to do what He pleases. He is going to punish sinners because they have defiled the earth, disobeyed the laws, violated the statues and broken the everlasting covenant. There, a curse consumes the earth and its people must bear their guilt. (vs. 5-6)
Judgment will come to everyone regardless of economic or social status (vs. 2-3). The joyful heart will become a funeral (vs. 7-13). Those who tried to flee will fall into a pit and caught in a snare (vs. 17-18)/. The earth will be broken up, split asunder, shaken and fall and never to rise again (vs. 19-20). Those who have power in the heaven above and on the earth below will be herded together like prisoners bound in a dungeon and be punished (vs. 21-22). The Lord Almighty will reign gloriously at Mount Zion in Jerusalem (v. 23)[:]
