[:en]Thoughts from Isaiah 36[:]

[:en]During the reign of Hezekiah, Shennacherib, king of Assyria sent his field commander to announce that they are coming to surround Jerusalem.  The commander told them not to trust in the Lord.  He promised them gifts – wine and fig tree to eat, water to drink, land to own, vineyards to plough – if they would make peace with them.  He boasted of the many nations that he had conquered.  But Hezekiah did not listen to him.  Instead, he sought help from the Lord and believed in His Word.

Similarly, Satan tries to frighten you into surrendering to him.  Then he wants you to negotiate with him by offering you gifts.  Be alert.  Use the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of Satan. (Eph. 6:12)[:]
