[:en]Thoughts from Isaiah 40[:]

[:en]When the exiles read the words of Isaiah written a century before the fall of Judah, they were greatly encouraged.  Gold’s chastening hand had ended and He had forgiven all their sins.  There was a new beginning with the voice of comfort assuring them of God’s omnipotence.  He is the mighty God that surpasses all other false gods of the world.  No one and nothing can compare to His great power and mighty strength.

“Men are like grasses that withers (v. 6) like grasshoppers (v. 22).  But “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will nenew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles’ they will run and not grow wearyu, they will walk and not be faint” (vs. 287-31_[:]
