Jeremiah described the ministry of Christ. He will bring justice to the nations and establish His law on earth. He will call Israel to become a light for the Gentiles to open the eyes of the blind and free captives from prison and to release those who sit in darkness (vs. 6-7). Although Israel is blind and deaf, but the Lord will not forsake them forever.
ISRAEL BLIND AND DEAF
The people of Israel have eyes but can not see. They have ears but cannot hear. That is why God poured out on them his burning anger, the violence of war. It enveloped them in flames and consumed them. As a result, they were plundered and looted, trapped in pits and hidden in prison.
