[:en]The central message in this chapter centers on the Lord as the only God:
- “I am the Lord, and there is no other, apart from me, there is no God” (v. 5)
- “There is none besides me. I am the Lord and there is no other” (v. 6a)
- “Surely God is with you, and there is no other, there is no other god” (v. 14)
- “I am the Lord and there is no other (v. 18)
- “Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me” (v. 21)
- “Turn to me and be saved all you ends of the earth, for I am God and there is no other” (v. 22)
- “Before me every knee will bow, by me every tongue will swear. They will say of me. In the Lord alone are righteous and strength” (vs. 23-24)
Reasons why the Lord is the only God:
- HGe subdues nations and strips kings of their armor (v. 1)
- He levels the mountain and break down gates of bronze, cut through bars of iron to give treasures and riches stored in secret place (v. 3)
- He makes possible the rising and setting of the sun (v. 6)
- He forms the light and creates darkness. He brings prosperity and create disaster (v. 7)
- He creates heavens above, rain down righteousness, opens wide the earth and spring up salvation (v. 8)
- He created the heavens and earth and formed it to be inhabited (v. 18)
Questions to Ponder:
- Does the clay say to the potter, what are you making? Does your work say, ‘JHe has no hands?’ (v. 9)
- Do you say to your father, what have you begotten? or to your mother, what have you brought to birth?’ (v. 10)
When life seems to be trembling down, remember that God is sovereign. He is on the throne to accomplish His purposes. He is the potter, we are the clay. We have no right to question Him. Let us look to Christ by faith and receive His gift of salvation.[:]
