[:en]SCRIPTUR: 2 THESSALONIANS 2
“So then brothers, stand firm and hold on to the teachings we passed on to you whether by word of mouth or by lettter” (2 Thessalonians 2:15)
One of the chief weapon of Satan to make the saints lost their faith is through deception. False teachers had come from someone claiming to have a divine revelation, someone passing on a teaching as though it came from Paul, and someone distributing a letter supposedly written by Paul.
As “the day of the Lord” is coming, the man of lawlessness will appear. He is the Anti-Christ who is equipped with Satan’s power to bring destruction. He is at work secretly using counterfeit powers, signs and miracles to deceive people and draw followers. He used his power to lead people away from God towards himself. The believers had forgotten what Paul had taught them so they were trapped by the power of lawlessness and lies of the devil. Paul warned them that the coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterefiet, miracles, signs, words and in every sorts of evil (vs. 10)
Paul reminded the Thessalonians believers that they were chosen by God from the beginning. Salvation is from God and there is no other way to receive forgiveness from sin. He urged them to stand firm , believe in the truth, and hold on to the teachings that he had taught them. He encouraged them to do good deeds, to say pleasant words and to place their highest hope in the Lord.
LESSON:
This world is now full of political upheaval and religious apostasy. Do not listen to the lies of the devil – the teachings of the cults, and the sugar coated promises of false teachers. Hold on to the Word of God. Let His word be your encouragement and good hope. Continue to do every good work. Seize every opportunity to win others to Christ.[:]
