[:en]SCRIPTURE:  GALATIANS 5

“Do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love” (v. 13)

“But the fruit of Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (v. 22)

Jesus had set us free.  But this freedom is costly because it costs His life.  That is why this freedom does not permit us to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.  The acts of sinful nature are: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like” (v. 19-20)  On the contrary, this freedom brings with us the responsibility to fulfill God’s law.  And God’s law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (v. 14).  Let us live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. (v. 25)

Lesson:  Freedom in Christ means turning away from your sins and nail your sinful nature to the cross.  Commit yourself to the Lord.  Let the Holy Spirit help you to overcome your sinful desires.  May the love of God motivate you to fulfill  His laws.  Live a life that can manifest the fruit of Spirit and bring glory to God.[:]
