[:en]SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 2
“What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor and put everything under his feet” (Hebrews 2:6-8)
“Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:18)
Admonitions of the writer to the believers:
- Hear attentively (vs. 1-4) – Hear the message of salvation and pay attention to His Word. God had confirmed His Word through “signs, wonders and miracles”. God would deal with those who rejected or ignore His Word. Spiritual deterioration starts when a Christian neglects to pray or read His Word. His Word is not to be treated lightly because just punishment will be given to those who disobey.
- See Jesus (vs. 9-12) – Jesus was made a little lower than the angels when he became man so that by the grace of God, He might taste death for everyone. But He won over death and is now crowned with glory and honor. We have to see Jesus, who by His death and resurrection cancelled all the ruins Adam had caused when he disobeyed God. Jesus is the pioneer of our salvation. We are His brethren in one family of God.
- Trust in Him (vs. 13-18) – Jesus had defeated Satan, who holds the power of death, by His death on the cross. He had delivered those who were in bondage for fear of death. Christ became a man and died for human. That is why fallen angels can never be saved but fallen men and women can be saved. He had become a merciful and sympathetic high priest to make atonement for sinners. He won over temptations so that He is able to help those who are being tempted. We have to put our trust in Him to meet our every need.
LESSON:
Do not ignore or neglect His command. Heed and obey His Word. Disobedience will reap just punishment.
Jesus is more superior than angels. He was made a lower than angels when he became man in order to redeem us. But now He is crowned with glory and honor.
Christ is a merciful and faithful Hight Priest. We can depend on Him to help us when we call Him.
