[:en]SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 10
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:22)
“Let is hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:23-24)
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25)
This chapter deals with the Sacrifice of Christ:
- It is once for all and it does not need to be repeated.
- It opens the way to God because Christ is our mediator. By His sacrifice, all our sins have been forgiven so that we can come to His presence anytime.
Exhortations of Paul:
- Draw near to God with a sincere heart
- Hold firm to the hope we profess
- Spur one another toward love and good deeds
- Encourage everyone to meet together
- Do not throw away your confidence because you will be richly rewarded
- Persevere during times of persecution and you will receive what God has promised
A believer who willfully sin is to sin against God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. His willful act has trampled the Son of God and insulted the spirit of grace. He will severely be judged and lost his rewards in heaven.
LESSON:
Let us hold on to the hope in eternity. Love one another and do good deeds. Draw near to God by having a personal relationship with Jesus. Continue to worship God together as a Body of Christ. Be confident and endure sufferings for you will surely receive His rewards.
Do not take the sacrifice of Christ lightly. Do not abuse the grace of God by sinning willfully. For the Lord will judge His people when he says: “It is mine to avenge. I will repay ” (v. 30)
