[:en]SCRIPTURE: 2 TIMOTHY 3
“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” ( 2 Timothy 3:16)
Paul described the scenario of the terrible times in the Last Days as follows:
“People will be lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power” (vs. 1-4).
He mentioned about Jannes and Jambress, who were Egyptian magicians in Pharoah’s court. They initiated the miracles that Moses performed (Exo. 7:6-13). Today, there are also counterfeit Christians who infiltrate the church with false doctrines that cause divisions among church people. God’s people need discernment by following the teachings of the Holy Scripture.
Paul talked about his teaching, his way of life, his purpose, faith, patience, love endurance, persecutions and sufferings. It served as an object lesson for Timothy to follow. He told Timothy to equip himself with the knowledge of the Holy Scripture so that he could win souls and do good work.
LESSON:
The Bible is the inspired work of God. Its purpose is for salvation and holy living. The Word is profitable for teaching doctrine, rebuking falsehood, correcting wrong doings and training in righteousness. The Bible can transform a person’s life into a maturity Christian. That is why church and Christians today has to return to the Bible. We have to study and practise the Word of God so that we will not be deceived by Satan.
