[:en]SCRIPTURE: REVELATION 6
“For the great day of their wrath has come and who can stand?” (Revelation 6:17)
SEVEN SEAL:
- White Horse (vs. 1-2) – Its rider is Antichrist with a bow and a crown. He is beginning his conquest on earth.
- Red Horse vs. 3-4) – “Red” color stands for war. The rider was given a large sword. He uses the sword to kill people. There will be war among nations.
- Black Horse (vs. 5-6) -The color black is gloomy which signifies famine. The rider holds a pair of scales in his hands. He controls the food supply. Food will be scarce. People’s wages is not sufficient to buy a quart of wheat or 3 quarts of barley. However, oil and wine will be available for the rich.
- Pale Horse (vs. 7-8) – “Pale” suggests “lifeless” color. The rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They are given the authority to kill 1/4 of the earth’s population using four methods – sword (violence and war), famine (drought), plague (disease and pestilence) and wild beasts of the earth (human being attacked by wild animals).
- Souls of the Martyrs (vs. 9-11) – The martyred saints pray for vengeance to the murderers. They were told to wait until more of the brethren will be slain. These Tribulation martyrs will be resurrected to reign during the Millennium.
- Great Earthquake (vs. 12-17) – God’s wrath will be revealed with great earthquake. The sun will turn black, the moon will turn blood red and the stars in the sky will fall to the earth. The sky will recede like a scroll rolling up and every mountain and island was removed from its place. The judgment of the 6th seal involves the physical destruction of heavens and earth as well as the turmoil of political system and the meltdown of economies of all nations. People would hid in the rock instead of seeking God.
SUMMARY:
The world ruler (the Antichrist) will conquer the nation peacefully at first. So people will feel secure and peaceful. However, he will soon cause terrible destruction. People will suffer from war, famine, death and economic downfall. This warns us to reject the false peace of Antichrist and accept the eternal peace of Jesus Christ, who is the Prince of Peace.
As judgment day is near, we need to prepare ourselves and live holy lives. We are commanded by Jesus to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Mat. 28:18-20)
