[:en]SCRIPTURE:  1 JOHN 1

“If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth” (1 John 1:6)

“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:8-9)

John was the beloved disciple of Jesus who wrote the gospel of John , 1,2,3 John and Revelation.  This chapter centered on the Word of Life and Walking in the Light.  Christ, the Word of Life was manifested to reveal God the Father and to make possible for us to have a relationship with Him.  The Word of Life enables us to have joyful life (v. 4) and truthful fellowship (v. 6).  John introduced God as the image of light in contrast with Satan, the prince of darkness.  God is light and in Him, there is no darkness.  To obey Him is to walk in the light and to disobey Him is to walk in darkness.  Two signs of living in darkness are:  claiming having fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness (v. 6), and claiming to be without sin (v. 8), 10).  If we confess our sin, God is faithful and just and He will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

LESSON:

Make God’s Word the guideline of your life.  Walk in the light and live by the truth.  God is faithful to forgive your sins if you confess it to Him.[:]
